John L. Ruffino

	John L. Ruffino, age 79, of Tamaroa, died Wednesday, October 8, 2003 at 5:35 a.m. in the Pinckneyville Community Hospital Skilled Care Unit.
	John was born in Pinckneyville on March 30, 1924, a son of Daniel and Elsie (Niederbrach) Ruffino.  He married Lois Louise Hamilton on December 3, 1947  at St. Paul United Church of Christ, Pinckneyville, and she preceded him in death on September 16, 2003.
	During his lifetime he served with the U.S. Navy during World War II, was an autoworker for General Motors for 31 years, was a member of the United Auto Workers Union, was a member of St. Paul United Church of Christ, was a member of the Du Quoin VFW Post #513 and Du Quoin American Legion Post #647 and was a past member of the Moose and Eagles Clubs.
	Survivors include his three sons, Tony and wife Trudy of Tamaroa, Danny of Pinckneyville and Johnny and wife Linda of Pinckneyville; three daughters, Glenda Hagene and husband  Maurice of Pinckneyville, Dianna Rednour and husband Russell of Pinckneyville and Jenny Reidelberger and husband Larry of Tamaroa; a brother, Pete Ruffino of Pinckneyville; a sister, Angelina Fluck of Sullivan; 12 grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; four step-grandchildren; seven step-great-grandchildren; two step-great-great grandchildren and numerous other relatives and friends.  He was preceded in death by his parents, wife and eight brothers and sisters.
	Funeral services were held on Friday, October 10, 2003 at 10 a.m. in St. Paul United Church of Christ, Pinckneyville, with Pastor Howard Self officiating.  Interment was in the Campbell Cemetery, rural Pinckneyville.  Graveside military rites were conducted by Du Quoin American Legion Post #647.
	Friends called at the St. Paul United Church of Christ on Thursday from 6 until 9 p.m. and on Friday from 8 a.m. until time of services.
	Memorials may be made to the American Diabetes Association.
	Arrangements were by Pyatt-Harrawood Funeral Home, Pinckneyville.
